Sharoy is a beautiful village in the South of Chechnya. It's the village my family called home once, and in my mind, it stands as a beacon of everything that industrial colonialism has ripped away from the Chechen people, but also from settled peoples in general. These songs are about the tension before the war, about feverish devotion to our sovereignty, about the changing of the seasons and the powerful divinity of the Pear Tree, and most importantly, about resistance. Long live Chechnya and her people, and long live Red Metal.
